Footloose and Fancy Free

Semana tres

Hello week number 3:

School this week consisted of a visit to the Forum (i believe it to be a pretty bad ass museum about Spain) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_Universal_Forum_of_Cultures (arrived by TRAM...just a really fast bus) and also a pretty bad bitch session from our studio professor due to the fact that UTSA students apparently have it pretty easy as far as what is expected from students.....we need to step it up in regards to production! FUN!!!

ThEn......
I enjoyed my very first fútbol game on Thursday Jan 29th. Twas a nice release after our loooong class that day! It was so much fun, so much passion in one stadium, i enjoyed myself greatly! FC Barcelona kicked ass! The ride home on the metro was most interesting, so many people filled our little transportation genie that we became sardines! Lotsa laughs =]

Friday was a blast...it began as a movie night (Vanilla Sky, an undeniable favorite) and then turned into an all night dancing frenzy...when i say all night i mean all night..7am to be exact! We first walked to forever but happily found the place...LA FIRA http://www.lafiraclub.com/ ....You pay 12 euros to get in and then have 2 tokens to supply your taste buds with whichever toxin you choose, Bacardi and rum numero uno and some fruity little number as 2...and the finale a shot which was on fire seconds before it went down the shoot. Tons of fun dancing there, but boy was there more to come....Taxied our way to RAZMATAZZ http://www.salarazzmatazz.com/ and had the best time dancing and laughing!! i do enjoy my night life in Barcelona!

Saturday was definitely a recover day....zzzzzzzzzzz......28 days later....zzzzzzz...
Sunday we were woken by our oh so sweet neighbor whom decided to blame us, instead of the apt itself for the leak which is happening in both our kitchens! So wonderful to live so close to people....i must say i miss my acres! Super bowl for us tonight is on at 12 am =] and tons of school work tomorrow! BOOOOO....

Inspired

How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out

Today is Saturday- 428 pm....recapping my week is a blur of school and a bit of sadness. Totally lost on what to do for this site analysis project, its a bit difficult when you have no clue where things are, the teacher is having trouble clearly expressing what it is he desires, and everything is in spanish, but i am managing. Received my first letter from mom, pop, and sis. As soon as i opened that thing all i remember was the smell of something fresh (fabric softener-dork mom) and seeing BoBo's paw print...after that were blurred images and scribble due to the pouring of tears....=] it was a good letter, but at the same time i was kinda having a shity week and it just added to the emotionality of it all. My computer decided to tell me it needed to be recovered, rebooted..whatever...ok cuz im really computer literate...i just freaked, nowhere in my budget does it say...brand new laptop! But thankfully after trial and error it miraculously came back to life. Its ALIVE!!! The week carried on...and yesterday was one of the most beautiful...i often realize the best times are when im alone?? I misplaced the pack of people i was with, so i decided to splurge a bit on myself and acquired some Spain clothing items =]. The day just felt so freakin amazing (perfect weather) so i just sorta wandered around, observing, learning, assuming, realizing...amused none the less.

thank you...streets
thank you....love
thank you....timing
thank you...opportunity
thank you.....chivalry
thank you.....hope
thank you....life
thank you....courage
thank you....rhythm
thank you....breeze
thank you....

Mi Amigos

XOXO

Oh MOMA

Saturday i got to visit a Barcelona club, MOMA, with mi amigos and visit the Barcelona toilet several times in the night! OOPS!!! But it was so fun and im so excited that everyone is so friendly and outgoing! The following day I dragged my sad hung over ass to the library to begin my fun school work...so confusing and frustrating but im super excited for the semester after listening to the professor and what he has to offer.
Sunday night was low key but i learned some fun drinking games: Fresitas and Capitan Bluff. (Compliments of Dianna and Marissa)
Monday night i decided to do my part for my roomies and those that cooked dinner for me before. I cooked spaghetti, homemade meatballs, and salad. Everyone was so pleased and i was so happy to provide for all. Afterward i talked everyone into a couple rounds of SCENE IT, thats right baby! I lost, what a crock! Finally with the help of new amiga Bailey i learned how to wash my clothes cuz im kinda running out! Afterwards i was comsumed by more school work, BOOOOOOOOOOO!
Tuesday i enjoyed some really amazing pizza and became a trash digger, snagged a shelf for my bathroom, extreme lack of table space en la bano!

La Playa

I traveled to the very north end of Barcelona (found the castle i had been admiring from a far, which turned out to be a Cathedral surrounded by a kiddie park) then i traveled to the very south end of Barcelona, where the land meets the Mediterranean Sea. =]

it doesn't smell like home,
i haven't seen a seagull yet,
not a sole is found in a swim suit,
but its more breathtaking than anything i could have imagined.

Day 3 & 4

After sleeping a tad late i decided it best not to waste the day and join some friends to see Park Güell by Gaudi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Park_Guell

It was most exquisite! He is insanely amazing!

Friday begins with a quick tram ride to Escuela which consisted of a brief lecture and a tour of the Gothic Quarter of Spain, got to sketch some, which was actually more fun then i remembered! =] I had some scarf love later!

Beauty on Tuesday by accident!!!

Day 2

After almost minimizing our lights, well electricity, in the apartment the night before i figure its best to read before plugging in straighteners =] Stayed up way too late the night before but today is my tour of the city provided by our professor Candid Rogers. I am overwhelmed with all there is to see!!! its TOO MUCH. We strolled around town, met the studio professor, and then decided to eat at this beautiful Mercado with small restaurants squished in between! I got familiar with the streets, necessities, and with the students i was found in good company.

Today, more than ever, i realized how truly spoiled America is! We are so used to having things at arms reach, pick up a phone, press of a button and whatever you want you have. NOT HERE! everything is miniature, polly pockets sized washing machine that fits one pair of pants, zero dryers, zero printers, not enough outlets, COLD always- the sun rises after 830 and is down by 5, smallest sidewalks and streets. Everything is so tight and compact that the cars become minature and more than often people are walking, biking, or bicycling. I admire the sense of independance on everyones face. They make being cold fashionable. And for petes sake the food portions are correctly sized, so much so that i haven't seen a overweight preson yet! I get to hump it up a huge hill everyday and sometimes i walk backwards!
